Shane is a ‘recovering scientist’ who has dedicated his career over the last decade to working with and for health research funding organizations, helping to enable the responsible realization of benefits to patients, communities and societies from innovations in health research.

Currently, Shane is the Director of Programs with Grand Challenges Canada (www.grandchallenges.ca), an organization dedicated to funding “Bold Ideas with Big Impact”: innovative projects and programs with the potential to have significant and enduring impacts on the health of people and populations in low- and middle-income countries.

He lives in Toronto’s west side with his wife and son and has been a hip hop fan from the moment he first heard Whodini’s The Freaks Come Out At Night on cassette.
