Born and raised in Toronto, Frances is an artist of multiple disciplines. She had always shown interest in dance and eventually began to pursue it in 2008 when she joined a choreography team named C2 Genesys. She quickly stepped up to the plate as a leader when she was asked to assist in leading the Junior team the following year. Her hunger for dance grew as she and a teammate began to explore the world of freestyle dance. This eventually led to both their closures of the C2 Genesys chapter and the beginning of their own crew, Soul Rebels (later re-named Rebels de la Soul).
She has trained with multiple teachers under a variety of styles (Hip hop, Popping, and Dancehall) and battling in cities like Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and New York. Out of all styles she has trained in, Dancehall is where she has found her truest form of expression. Frances aims to travel to Jamaica to study dancehall culture. In the meantime, she is pursuing all learning opportunities here in Toronto.
Through dance, Frances hopes to help equip youth with the same tools that allowed her to embrace and accept herself. In allowing students to explore themselves as well as work together, she encourages strength building in students’ relationships inwardly and toward their community.
