Britta B. is a Canadian spoken word artist and keynote speaker currently residing downtown Toronto. She independently published two chapter books of poetry titled, “Speak” and, “Oh, Britta”. She also released a self-titled spoken word EP in 2012. Britta began performing spoken word while studying at Wilfrid Laurier University and joined the Toronto Poetry Slam team shortly after in 2012. Since then, she has provoked audiences across Canada both in competitive, and feature performances. She has also showcased in New York City, Detroit, and New Orleans. Freshly crowned the 2013 Toronto International Poetry Slam Champion, Britta made a return appearance to the stage of Dwayne Morgan’s production of, “When Sister’s Speak”, and was cast as a narrator for her debut theatrical performance in Regent Park’s, “The Journey”. Most recently, Britta performed at TEDx Youth in Brampton, ON. As an ambassador for R.I.S.E. Edutainment, and Artist Educator for UNITY Charity, Britta plans to serve Toronto’s so called, “at-risk” communities by acquiring new languages, travelling to far off lands with a notebook in her hand writing anywhere, and everywhere she can.
